הרעיון
מאז שאני זוכרת את עצמי התעניינתי ועסקתי באומנות, במיוחד בציור ורישום בצבעי פסטל.
דרך הציור בצבעי פסטל, רציתי לבטא תנועה ואינטגרציה של אובייקט בתוך רקע בעזרת מעברי צבע רכים.
הרעיון של "ציור על גבי צילום" נולד בטבעיות, תוך כדי סידור תמונות באלבומי המשפחה (טרום עידן הצילום הדיגיטלי).
בעת מיון התמונות, מצאתי את עצמי מתבוננת שוב ושוב בתמונות מסויימות.
גיליתי כי אני נמשכת דווקא לאותם צילומים פשוטים, כמעט אקראיים, שצולמו לא אחת ביד בלתי מיומנת או מזווית צילום משונה.
הבימוי המחוספס, הנונשלנטיות או תזוזת היד של הצלם, לכדו בפשטותם את הלך הרוח האינטימי של האובייקט יחד עם האווירה סביבו.
לעיני נגלה סוג של קסם "בלתי נראה" החבוי בצילום.
"הבלתי נראה", הוא זה שעודד אותי לשלוף את הצילום מהערימה ולצייר עליו בצבעים, את החבוי בין המציאות החדה של הצילום לבין הדמיון המעורפל והמשתנה.
אני
עבורי, הציור על גבי צילום הוא אתגר חוויתי. הניסיון לחבר בין המציאות לדמיון בא לביטוי בהרמוניה צבעונית של האובייקט, יחד עם הרקע והאווירה בצילום.
אני מאמינה כי הציור על גבי צילום, אינו מתחרה או גורע מהמציאות שנתפסה בעדשת המצלמה, אלא משתף ומוסיף את מה שנעדר ממנה.
הדרך
העבודות הראשונות שלי היו ציורים על גבי צילומים של שלושת ילדיי, בשנתם, משחקים או תוך כדי תנועה.
תמונות של ילדים מתאפיינות כמעט תמיד בפשטות ותום, והפוטנציאל לקסם חבוי רחב ומגוון.
בהמשך, הרחבתי את עבודתי גם לבני משפחה נוספים וחברים, כאשר אני מקפידה להישאר נאמנה לדרך ההתבוננות הראשונית ונטולת היומרות שמבחינה את התמונה מאחרות.
היום, כאשר תלויים על לא מעט קירות, צילומים מצויירים הנעים בין דמיון למציאות, אני מרגישה מוכנה לגלות יחד אתכם את "הצד האחר" של התמונה שלכם.
The Idea
For years I have been attracted to art in general and specifically to painting and drawing with pastel colors. Through painting, I aimed to express motion and integration of an object in background, by using soft color passages.
The idea of “painting on photography” came naturally while sorting and organizing printed photos in our family albums (before the era of digital photography). As I was cataloging the images, some of them called out for me to keep them aside - out of the main pile. Some attentive but yet casual photos, taken by an unskilled hand at unusual and odd angles, were the ones that attracted me most. Those rough, non-artifice photos, projected by their simplicity a mood of intimacy by capturing the "mood" of the object.
I saw the latent magic within the images, the “invisible”, which inspired me to draw-on or outline the photo, trying to catch the abstruse between the sharp and concrete reality to the fuzzy and shifting imagination.
Myself
To me, drawing on photography is an experiential adventure, like flirting with dimensions and merging the real and the delusive into a collaborative harmonic dance. I believe that painting on photography does not compete with, or derogate from the reality caught by the camera lens, but augments and completes what is absent from it.
All The Way
My first works were painting on photographs of my three children, sleeping, playing or in motion.
Children photographs are often innocent and authentic, and almost always possess the inherent magic I was after. Later on, I expanded into other images, mostly of other family members and friends, preserving their initial authentic nature.
Lately, with many of my work decorating the walls of my family and friends, I feel ready to embark on the journey with you, to discover together the “other side" of your own images.
